We recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance to secure your date, especially during peak season (May–October). Popular weekends fill up fast, so the earlier you reach out, the better. For last-minute events, call us directly at (559) 878-7294 and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

What's included per plate?

Each plate includes your choice of smoked meat (tri-tip, ribs, or chicken), two sides (mac & cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, cornbread, or grilled veggies), a drink, and all disposable plates, napkins, and utensils. We bring everything you need for a complete BBQ meal.

What is the full-service option?

Our full-service option adds $300 to your order and includes setup, dedicated serving staff, drink station management, and full cleanup after the event. It's perfect for weddings, corporate events, or any occasion where you want to relax and enjoy the party without worrying about a thing.

What areas do you serve?

We proudly serve Fresno, Clovis, Madera, Sanger, Selma, Fowler, Reedley, Kingsburg, and the greater Central Valley. We also travel beyond our core service area for larger events — just ask about travel fees when you contact us.

What deposit is required to book?

We require a 50% deposit to secure your event date. The remaining balance is due on the day of your event. We accept cash, check, Venmo, and Zelle. Your deposit guarantees your date on our calendar and allows us to begin sourcing the best quality meats for your event.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely! We offer chicken and turkey options for guests who don't eat red meat, and we always have vegetarian-friendly sides like mac & cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, and grilled veggies. If you have specific dietary needs, let us know when booking and we'll work with you to create a menu everyone can enjoy.

Do you provide tables and chairs?

Tables and chairs are not included in our standard catering packages, but we can recommend trusted local rental companies we've partnered with. If you book our full-service option, we'll coordinate with your rental company to ensure everything is set up and ready before your guests arrive.

What is your weather/rain policy?

We cater rain or shine! Our setup is designed to work in various weather conditions. For outdoor events, we recommend having a backup plan such as a tent or canopy. If severe weather forces a cancellation, we'll work with you to reschedule at no additional charge, subject to availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 14 or more days before the event receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations made 7–14 days before the event receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event are non-refundable. We understand plans change, so please notify us as early as possible.

Do you travel beyond the Fresno area?

Yes! While our core service area covers Fresno and the surrounding Central Valley cities, we're happy to travel further for larger events. A travel fee may apply depending on distance. We've catered events as far as Bakersfield, Merced, and the Sierra foothills. Contact us for a quote.

How long does it take to prepare the food?

Our meats are slow-smoked for 12–24 hours depending on the cut. Tri-tip and ribs take longer, while chicken is typically 6–12 hours. We start smoking the night before your event to ensure everything is perfectly tender and ready to serve. This dedication to low-and-slow cooking is what sets Mel's BBQ apart.
